New New New - valvoline.co.uk domain dispute...

(Actually, it's pretty old...)

Ever since the inception of the Valvoline Web Pages (well, to be accurate, eight months after the Valvoline Web Pages were erected), we have been approached by a large "Oil Company" that has been interested in taking over the 'valvoline.co.uk' domain name. This "Oil Company" has threatened court action as well as offering money to aquire the domain, but have not succeeded in aquiring it.

Since this "Oil Company" has been intimating their interest since 2001, development of the valvoline.co.uk domain name has been stunted - who knows if the "Oil Company" will actually follow through on their legal threats, or maybe they will eventually make an offer the current domain owners cannot refuse.

Coming soon will be the full reproduction of all of the document exchanges between the valvoline.co.uk domain name owners, and said "Oil Company"!

One thing that is mildly amusing: we recently sent an email rejecting the "Oil Company's" current offer (14% of a previous offer, itself rejected!) along with a comment that we will be publishing full details of the dispute. Within five minutes of our rejection email being read, the "Oil Company" was busy looking at our web site. Well, that's one way to generate web traffic!

This site will not be completed for quite some time (mostly due to the dispute mentioned above), but it will be launching soonish (or when I get the time to get everything organised, more like!)

The line up will be looking at everything valve related, ranging from Safety valves, to software houses making the next greatest game, to rock bands.

After all, it's a valve thing! :-)
